During World War II, Rider & Bell proudly began producing Australian made brass helmets for the NSW Fire Brigade and progressively to other states and brigades nationwide.

The company also became widely known for manufacturing the postman’s whistle which became popular as an army issued whistle and date stamped.   It was later named by the manufacturer as the Aussie Thriller whistle and still displayed in some RSL clubs and post war collections.
